Tolgay Åžatana wurde 1968 in Ankara geboren. Seit der Grundschule absolvierte er seine Ausbildung in Ankara.
Nach seinem Abschluss an der medizinischen Fakultät der Universität Ankara im Jahr 1991 leistete er seinen Pflichtdienst im zentralen Gesundheitszentrum von Kars Tuzluca ab. Er begann seine postgraduale Ausbildung an der Klinik für Orthopädie und Traumatologie der Medizinischen Fakultät der Gazi-Universität im Jahr 1992 mit dem TUS-Examen. 1997 wurde er als Facharzt für Orthopädie an das Staatskrankenhaus Etimesgut in Ankara berufen. Er absolvierte seinen Militärdienst 1998-1999 im Militärkrankenhaus Erzurum Marshal Çakmak.
Nachdem er fast 2 Jahre lang an Studien zur Wirbelsäulenchirurgie – Kinderorthopädie an der Michigan State University (Spinal Cord Experimental Studies), University of Michigan Ann Arbor Orthopaedics Unit teilgenommen hatte, kehrte er 1999 nach Hause zurück und wurde in das Gaziantep State Hospital berufen. Nachdem er einige Zeit im Gaziantep American Hospital gearbeitet hatte, wurde er in das Ankara Training and Research Hospital berufen und dann in diese Einrichtung des METU-Gesundheitszentrums versetzt. Er verließ den 12-jährigen öffentlichen Dienst in derselben Einrichtung und begann mit der Arbeit am Aufbau der Klinik für Orthopädie und Traumatologie im Ankara Med-Art Medical Center.

Die Bereitstellung der ersten endoskopischen Wirbelsäulenchirurgiegeräte in unserem Land im Akman Med-Art Medical Center ermöglichte die ersten Anwendungen dieser Operation seit 2004.
Nachdem er 2008 in verschiedenen privaten Krankenhäusern in Istanbul gearbeitet hatte, begann er, als freiberuflicher Arzt Patienten in seiner Privatpraxis aufzunehmen. Er war Gründungsmitglied der World Laser Association (IMLAS), der World-European and Asian Minimally Invasive Surgery Societies (ISMISS, PASMISS, Asian and American MISS) und arbeitete in diesem internationalen Bereich. Als er seine Kollegen in diesen Verbänden in England, Frankreich, Deutschland, Italien, Brasilien, Israel, Korea, Indonesien, China und Japan besuchte, hatte er die Gelegenheit, persönlich mit Forschern der endoskopischen Wirbelsäulenchirurgie zusammenzuarbeiten.
Tolgay Şatana, der in kurzer Zeit durch seine Arbeit auf internationaler Ebene bekannt wurde, ist nach wie vor als internationaler Trainer und Referent für perkutane endoskopische Wirbelsäulenchirurgie im Vorstand relevanter Verbände tätig.

Er ist Gründungsmitglied der in unserem Land auf diesem Gebiet gegründeten Verbände (OMID und MINOD) und setzt seine Mission fort, indem er Mitglied des Präsidiums und des Vorstands ist. Als Schöpfer und Organisator der Kongresse von ISMISS Turkey ist Tolgay Şatana für seine Arbeit zur Verbreitung der minimal-invasiven Chirurgie bekannt. Indem er sechs internationale Kongresse unter dem Titel ISMISS Turkey koordinierte, brachte er die Marke TURKMISS in Schulungskurse zu Leichen. Mehr als 300 Chirurgen wurden seit 2008 in Turkmiss-Kursen zusammen mit Ismiss Turkey-Kongressen ausgebildet. 1200 Ärzte wurden in Kongressen zertifiziert. Tolgay Şatana hat nicht nur seine Studien zur minimal invasiven Chirurgie globalisiert, indem er zu den Gründern der World Federation gehörte, sondern auch neue Wege auf diesem Gebiet beschritten, indem er im April 2014 in Istanbul den ersten Kongress der minimal invasiven Wirbelsäulenchirurgie abgehalten hat. 300 Ärzte wurden auf dem WFMISS World Congress zertifiziert und viele Premieren wurden mit dem TURKMISS Cadaver Course erreicht.

Tolgay Şatana, der als freiberuflicher Arzt im akademischen Bereich in der Türkei tätig ist, konzentriert sich auf die endoskopische Wirbelsäulenchirurgie und nimmt weiterhin Patienten in allen Bereichen der orthopädischen Chirurgie auf in der arthroskopischen Gelenkchirurgie verbreitete Methoden. Er ist einer der ersten Ärzte, der mit arthroskopischen Behandlungen von Gelenken wie Ellbogen-, Hand-, Sprung- und Hüftgelenken begonnen hat.
Während unser Land die Reorganisation des Gesundheitssystems unterstützt, setzt es seinen Kampf in Nichtregierungsorganisationen (Privatsektor-Ärzteverband, Hekimder, Ärztekammern) fort, damit die Negativitäten im Privatsektor nicht die Ärzteschaft beeinträchtigen und der Öffentlichkeit Schaden zufügen.
Sie hat 2012 begonnen, Patienten in einer eigenen Privatpraxis aufzunehmen, da die ständige Arbeit in privaten Krankenhäusern ihr akademisches Studium behindert.
